Electricity tariffs will rise by an average 6.8 per cent in July to September from the previous quarter due to higher cost of natural gas for electricity generation, SP Group said on Friday (29 June).

It was the third consecutive quarter of higher electricity tariffs set by the power services provider.

The electricity tariff will increase from 22.15 cents to 23.65 cents per kWh for 1 July to 30 September.

For families living in HDB households, they will see their monthly electricity bill increase by between $2.05 for one-room flats and $7.95 for executive flats over the quarter.

The average electricity bills that HDB households will pay range from $32.27 for one-room flats to $125.30 for executive flats.
