Elton John to Release Memoir of ‘Farewell Yellow Brick Road’ Tour

On September 24, 2024, Hyperion Avenue, an imprint of Disney Publishing Worldwide, is set to publish Elton John’s “Farewell Yellow Brick Road: Memories of My Life on Tour,” a photo-filled memoir of his five-year, globe-spanning tour, which comprised 330 concerts. From the very first show in Allentown, PA in 2018, to the final show in Stockholm in July 2023, readers will get a behind-the-scenes look into every aspect of the incredible tour, including Elton’s final performances at Los Angeles’ Dodger Stadium, his performance at the Glastonbury festival, his touring wardrobe by Gucci, the stage design, celebrity guest attendees, official tour photography, his personal archive of posters, sketches, photographs and postcards, and more. It also includes a foreword by David Furnish, CEO of Rocket Entertainment, manager and creative director of the tour.

Variety covered the tour extensively and featured Elton John with Dua Lipa on the cover of its 2023 Hitmakers issue and event, celebrating their hit single together, “Cold Heart.”

And although the tour represented the end of the literal road for Elton, he never said he would stop performing or making music, even after after more than 300 million albums sold and over 3,500 concerts, membership in the Rock and Roll and Songwriters halls of fame, five Grammys, two Oscars, numerous BRIT awards, and more.

“The tour is everything I possibly wanted it to be and more — I can honestly say that at 75, I’m happier than I’ve ever been,” he told Variety at the time. “I’m not going to tour anymore, but I’m certainly going to make records — and I’m certainly, hopefully, going to collaborate with more people.”
