Nunavut RCMP say a situation in Rankin Inlet that led to an emergency alert Thursday has been resolved.

The alert, which was broadcast on radio and mobile devices Thursday afternoon, told residents to stay away from Char River Bridge, near Mine Road, due to an "ongoing situation."

RCMP gave few other details, other than to say nobody was in immediate danger.

A spokesperson for the RCMP said officers from Iqaluit have been sent to Rankin Inlet for support.

By 5 p.m. local time, RCMP said the incident was over. It has not released any additional details.
