Emma Stone Brings Fashion Drama to Cannes in Plunging Gown — But Wears Surprisingly Laid-Back Hairstyle
The actress embraced elegance on the red carpet
Emma Stone's show-stopping red carpet style has returned.
The 35-year-old actress appeared at the Friday, May 17 premiere of her new film Kinds of Kindness at the 77th Annual Cannes Film Festival in a custom, burgundy sequin Louis Vuitton gown, featuring a plunging v-neck and double ruffle train. She wore matching burgundy satin sandals from the brand to complete the monochrome moment.
Stone also wore Louis Vuitton High Jewelry pieces from the Deep Time collection including earrings set with two oval-cut diamonds as well as the "Volcano" bracelet set with one cushion-cut tourmaline stone weighing in at 53.49 carats, four cushion-cut spessartite Mandarin garnets at 28.38 carats and two LV Monogram Star cut diamonds in yellow gold and platinum.
In contrast with the ultra-glamorous gown, Stone opted for a laid-back hairstyle. Her signature copper locks were styled in loose waves that reached her shoulders. The undone style balanced her formal look perfectly, giving Stone the ultimate cool-girl vibe.
The Oscar-winner posed alongside her Kinds of Kindness costars Willem Dafoe, Jesse Plemons, Hunter Schafer, Margaret Qualley and Joe Alwyn.
Kinds of Kindness marks another collaboration between Stone and director Yorgos Lanthimos. The duo most recently worked together on 2023’s Poor Things, which earned Stone her second Academy Award for Best Actress.

According to the festival’s official website, Kinds of Kindness is “a triptych fable, following a man without choice who tries to take control of his own life; a policeman who is alarmed that his wife who was missing-at-sea has returned and seems a different person; and a woman determined to find a specific someone with a special ability, who is destined to become a prodigious spiritual leader.”
Stone’s glam Cannes moment follows a knockout awards season for the star, who stunned in elegant gown after elegant gown to receive accolades for her work as Bella Baxter in Poor Things. At the 2024 Oscars in March, wore a custom mint-colored Louis Vuitton strapless gown featuring an architectural peplum skirt.
She complemented the look with a 30-carat yellow diamond necklace from Louis Vuitton High Jewelry collection.
