Emmerdale airs a turning point for Kim Tate and Lydia Dingle's friendship in Monday's episode (January 8) following their recent dispute.

Kim is determined to make amends with Lydia as the fallout from Craig Reed's recent death continues.

Late last year, Kim confessed to Lydia that she left Craig to die after he was seriously injured by her horse, Ice.

Kim and Cain Dingle both agreed that the world was better off without Craig, who had avoided charges after raping Lydia.

Lydia struggled to forgive Kim once she knew the truth, as she'd previously told her loved ones that she hoped to move on from her ordeal with Craig and didn't want them to take matters into their own hands.

With Lydia now back in the village after spending Christmas with her mum, Kim is desperate to get their friendship back on track.

Kim consults with her husband Will over the difficult situation, hoping for some inspiration on how to deal with things.

In Monday's episode, Kim ignores Lydia's warnings to stay away and turns up at the Dingles' home for a chat.

At first, Lydia is annoyed with Kim for once again ignoring her wishes. However, Kim's relentless attitude towards saving their friendship soon starts to pay off as Lydia is reluctantly impressed by her efforts.

As a tentative thawing between Lydia and Kim starts to become apparent, will they agree on a fresh start?

Emmerdale's producer Laura Shaw previously said: "We'll see in the new year if [Lydia and Kim] can get their friendship back on track."

Emmerdale airs tonight at the earlier time of 7pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
