Emmerdale to air new crisis for Bob and Cathy Hope

Emmerdale spoilers follow.

There's more trouble ahead for Bob and Cathy Hope in Emmerdale, with the father and daughter set to be thrown into crisis.

Both Bob and Cathy have been struggling to see eye-to-eye following their respective health troubles, with Bob recovering following his heart attack and Cathy grappling with her Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD) diagnosis.

And it seems they're not out of the woods yet, with Emmerdale producer Laura Shaw speaking to Digital Spy about what's in store for the pair.

"Bob and Cathy’s relationship is going to be tested to the max," she said. "We’re going to see something happen that’s going to push them to the extreme.

"They’re going to hit rock bottom when this happens. Is it going to tear them apart or will it pull them together? We’ll see how that plays out."

Bob has struggled to support Cathy on the road to her diagnosis, with one fiery confrontation seeing Cathy lash out at her father and flee the Dales in an emotional burst.

Cathy returned to the village following Bob's heart attack and chased a formal diagnosis of PMDD.

In a drastic twist, Cathy recently confided in April Windsor about her plan to get pregnant by Samson Dingle, who already has a young child with Amelia Spencer.

She came up with a plan to deal with her excruciating and heavy periods caused by PMDD, with Cathy reading research that stated pregnancy could potentially ease her symptoms for nine months, or even for good.

April decided she can't let Cathy deceive Samson in this way, telling him everything. That lead to a blow-up row between the two best friends.

Bob discovered April and Cathy having it out while giving Leyla Harding a tour of the B&B to drum up business — and is suitably horrified to witness the clash.

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
