Emmerdale's Paddy has been struggling with loneliness following the end of his marriage to Chas. Since returning to Emmerdale, he has fallen deeper into the pits of depression and experienced suicidal thoughts.

In today’s episode (March 3), a helpless Marlon was in distress as everyone scrambled to try to find Paddy.

After Rhona made a discovery at the Veterinary surgery, the reality of what Paddy might be planning hit everyone and they became even more desperate to find him before it was too late.

Chas and Marlon headed to Grace’s tree, but there was no sign of him. Then an exhausted Marlon spotted a faint figure in a field, which turned out to be Paddy.

Marlon implored Paddy not to go ahead with his plans.

"Right now all I want to do is hug you. Tightly. And scream at you at the same time," Marlon said to his best friend.

He then told Paddy just how much he and his family and friends loved him. He reminded Paddy of his children and told him that the thought of him not being in the world is too distressing to comprehend.

Marlon's words were enough to convince Paddy to go home, where he was visited by a doctor.

Later on, Chas inadvertently let April know what happened with Paddy, which caused April to run to Paddy’s, raging and angry about how much distress her father, Marlon, had gone through for Paddy.

She then started to cry at the thought of Eve, Leo and Marlon losing him.

"None of this is okay. Please don’t do this, we love you so much," she cried as she hugged him.

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
