Emmerdale airs surprise cameo after character's exit

Emmerdale has aired a cameo from Lydia Dingle following her temporary exit last week.
Lydia decided to take a break from the Dales to stay with her mum last week, after discovering that Kim Tate had lied to her over her rapist Craig's death.
Kim confessed that her horse accidentally trampled Craig when he tried to attack them, though Kim refused to call 999 and initially let Lydia's husband Sam face police suspicion over the death.

Monday's (December 11) episode saw Sam and son Samson struggling to keep things going at Wishing Well Cottage without Lydia around.
Samson wasn't at all pleased as he found out he'd be on meal preparation duty until Lydia returned, so he got Lydia on a video call to go over his menu plans.
The father-and-son duo admitted to Lydia that they were worried she'd get used to being away from them and not want to come back.
"Never," she promised. "There's no place like home."

Lydia then assured Samson: "I haven't left you or your dad. I just need a little space and my mum's mustard-y mash.."
While Sam and Samson suggested she come home to help them spruce up the Christmas decorations, Lydia explained that wouldn't be possible this year.
There's no telling yet when exactly Lydia will return to Wishing Well Cottage — but she will be back at some point in the not-too-distant future.
