Emmerdale pays on-air tribute to legendary star Steve Halliwell

Emmerdale has paid tribute to late cast member Steve Halliwell on-air.
Monday's (December 18) episode started off with a brief dedication to the late Zak Dingle actor, who first appeared in the Dales back in October 1994.
Following the on-air dedication, Emmerdale fans shared their own tributes to the legendary soap star:

Last Friday (December 15), the soap shared the sad news of the death of the Zak Dingle actor in a heartfelt statement.
The soap said: "It is with deep sadness and a heavy heart that Emmerdale can confirm that Steve Halliwell, our beloved Zak Dingle, has peacefully passed away.
"All our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and loved ones through this very difficult time, and we’d request that their privacy is respected as they grieve for his loss.
"Steve will forever be synonymous with Emmerdale. The proud defender and head of the Dingle family. Heart and humour in all he did, it has been and always will be impossible not to smile when you think of him."
Throughout the day on Friday, several of Steve's Emmerdale co-writers paid tribute to the iconic soap star as well.
James Hooton, who plays Zak Dingle's son Sam in the soap, called Halliwell "a soap icon and a great friend" following the news of his passing.
"Steve Halliwell was the first person I met when I walked through the door into the Emmerdale studios and we remained friends until the end," he wrote on Twitter / X.
"A truly loved character and a strong proud man, RIP Steve you will be sadly missed."
Lisa Riley, who plays Mandy Dingle, also wrote: "Love you so so much Steve….the laughter lives on 💛💛💛 rest in peace."
Former Emmerdale star Kelvin Fletcher reflected on the impact Steve had on the soap, writing: "What a man and what a legacy. So many incredible memories. We had some fun. God Bless."
