Emmerdale to revisit Alex's kidnap story as Kim and Will are confronted

Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale couple Kim Tate and Will Taylor receive a shock next week as local vicar Charles Anderson confronts them over their past treatment of Alex Moore.

Charles' daughter Naomi Walters is currently dating Alex, unaware that he's using her in a secret masterplan to steal drugs from the local GP surgery.

Although Charles initially disapproved of Alex and feared that he couldn't be trusted, he later decided to give him a chance.

In next week's episodes, Alex's ex Dawn Fletcher prepares for a court hearing to finalise the adoption and custody arrangements for Clemmie and Lucas.

Unaware that Alex is more interested in criminal activity than being a father, Naomi and Manpreet Sharma both encourage him to start fighting for access to his kids.

Charles also gets involved by urging Alex to be a proper father to Clemmie and Lucas.

Alex makes his excuses, revealing that Kim and Will previously kidnapped and threatened him to stay away from the kids. Of course, he doesn't tell the full story that he was attempting to blackmail them at the time.

Charles is appalled and heads to Home Farm to confront Kim and Will over their brutal tactics.

Dawn is horrified by the revelations and she starts to worry that this could affect the upcoming court hearing.

Emmerdale bosses have already confirmed that next week's episodes culminate in Alex being knocked over in a hit and run incident on the road.

Could this make Kim and Will suspects in the mystery after their previous threats?

Kevin Mathurin, who plays Charles, explained: "Charles doesn't know the full picture about Alex's past, but he sees how much it means to Naomi to have his backing. Naomi is such a caring person and she wants Alex to be happy.

"Charles knows what it's like to be a parent and not be involved in a child's life – like he was not involved in Naomi's life when she was growing up.

"That really hurts Charles, so he understands and has empathy with Alex. He asks: 'Do you really want to experience what I've experienced, knowing that your children have grown up without you being there?'"

He continued: "Charles is shocked when he finds out about the kidnap. He's appalled and disgusted. But at the time, he's probably not surprised from what he knows of Kim!

"I guess this is the lowest that he's ever expected from Kim Tate and Will – to go to these lengths to keep Alex away from his children.

"Charles confronts them, and although Kim and Will give him the truth and the hard facts, he sticks by Alex's word and feels like Alex was being honest with him. I think Charles would rather stay wrong and strong, rather than go in there and be swayed around. At that point, he wants to stand by Alex and support him."

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
