Emmerdale star Will Ash teases Caleb and Tracy being caught out

Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale star Will Ash has spoken about the inevitable moment that his character Caleb Miligan is caught out over his affair with Tracy Robinson.

The actor admitted that Caleb may not be willing to give up his secret relationship with Tracy even if he faces a backlash from someone close to him in the village.

Show bosses have already confirmed that someone will uncover Caleb and Tracy's scandalous secret in Emmerdale's Christmas episodes.

However, speaking about how Caleb would react to being rumbled, Will laughed: "He's got more front than Blackpool so he'd totally try to front it.

"But at the same time, it's just about lust and sex, so he could just as happily go: 'Let's just draw a line under it and walk away from it'. I also think he's been in this situation before."

Discussing Caleb's motivation for the affair, Will continued: "At this stage it's just a sexual attraction. I don't think there are feelings there or love, it's pure lust.

"Caleb is motivated a lot of the time by wanting everything. If he knows it's taboo or forbidden, he'll go after it anyway. He knows he shouldn't be sleeping with his nephew's wife but that's why he wants to do it.

"Caleb is obviously attracted to Tracy physically because she's a beautiful young woman, and that attraction is reciprocated. He's driven by the danger of it.

"He does feel bad on Nate, because Nate is his nephew and one of his business partners. Caleb does like Nate – he's not trying to get one over on him. He is being pretty snide and it's abhorrent what he's doing, and he wrestles with that a lot.

"Caleb also needs to consider the cost of it, because this could ruin his relationship with Cain. He knows that it's a dangerous game he's playing, but he can't help himself. There's a self-destructive quality to him which plays into this storyline. He feels bad about Nate – but not bad enough to stop doing it!"

Will also pointed out that the seeds for this storyline were first planted much earlier in the year, when Tracy sought Caleb's backing for an investment to set up her own nursery.

Discussing his reaction to the plot, the actor said: "It was a bit of a shock to me that they were going to be getting together, but in those earlier scenes where Caleb first met Tracy and got involved in her ideas for the nursery, there was a bit of sexual tension between them anyway.

"There was a slight frisson of something. It still was a bit of a shock, but all the building blocks were there."

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
