Emmerdale star Dean Andrews gives health update after hospitalisation

Emmerdale star Dean Andrews has offered a health update following a hospitalisation.

The Will Taylor actor shared some positive news on Instagram after going under the knife at Thornbury Hospital earlier this week.

Alongside a photo of himself giving a double thumbs' up on his social media, Dean wrote: "Surgery went well. Very happy to have woken up 😂. Many thanks to my surgeon Chris and all the staff [at Thornbury Hospital]."

The actor received lots of well-wishes from friends and co-workers, including Lisa Riley (who plays Mandy Dingle) writing: "GET WELL SOON LOVELY"

Emmerdale declined to comment on whether Dean's filming schedule will be impacted when asked by Digital Spy.

The actor has played Will Taylor on the ITV1 soap for the past five years, first arriving as Harriet Finch's disgruntled ex-husband as he tracked her down to avenge being put behind bars.

While he initially seemed like a villain, Will has showed his softer side in recent years as a constant support to daughter Dawn Taylor and intensely loyal husband to Kim Tate.

More recently, Will and Kim's marriage was tested when she admitted to him that she'd covered up her horse accidentally killing villain Craig Reed. While Will initially felt Kim had betrayed him by lying, the couple have been patching things up in their marriage in recent weeks.

Away from the Dales, Dean shared wonderful news late last year that he'd tied the knot with his partner Helen Bowen-Green, with current and former co-stars like Fiona Wade and Amy Walsh in attendance.

"This beautiful lady @hbg_indiarose has just made me the happiest man alive by saying 'yes' to being my wife," he wrote on social media.

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
