Emmerdale star discusses possible return for Adam Barton

Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale star Ash Palmisciano has revealed that he would "love" to see a comeback for absent Dales character Adam Barton.

Palmisciano plays Adam's brother, Matty Barton, in the soap, but the siblings haven't appeared on screen together since Palmisciano took on the role.

Matty returned to the village in June 2018, six months after Adam fled the country, after he took the blame for Emma Barton's murder to save his mum Moira Dingle, who was the real killer.

Speaking to the Daily Star at the Inside Soap Awards 2023, Palmisciano spoke about how much he'd love to work with Thomas, who also stars in Waterloo Road as Donte Charles.

"I'd love for Adam to come back! He's a bit busy at the moment," he joked, referring to the fact that Thomas is currently competing on Strictly Come Dancing with professional partner Luba Mushtuk.

"But I'd love to work with him. I never actually got the chance but I've heard so much about him as a person, as an actor.

"The door is always open for him. I know Natalie J Robb (who plays Moira) is always rooting for that so hopefully in the future we will get to do something because that would be so exciting."

The actor also spoke about his hopes for the future of Matty's relationship with fiancée Amy Wyatt, revealing that he would love to see the couple get a happy ending.

"I'm really excited for the new year with Matty and Amy as well," he said. "I would love to see a soap wedding and a happy one."

The actor spoke to Digital Spy on the red carpet about the "busy" Christmas coming up for Emmerdale's residents, while he also dropped some hints about what to expect after Super Soap Week's car crash drama, involving Charity Dingle, Mackenzie Boyd and Amy's sister, Chloe Harris.

"All I can say is there's a lot of drama that's about to happen, which has a knock-on effect on Amy and Matty," he said. "There's some really great stuff ahead for them as well, but I don't want to give too much away or I might get fired!"

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
