Cain Dingle has hinted at plotting brutal revenge on rapist Craig Reed in Emmerdale.

This past week, Lydia has started opening up to her loved ones about being sexually assaulted by her former boyfriend Craig — and reactions have understandably ranged from heartbreak to fury.

In Wednesday's (October 18) episode, Lydia and Sam were still reeling over Samson's very public disclosure about what Craig had done.

Belle was there to support Lydia, even offering to walk with her to and from her session with a crisis counsellor the following day.

"We just want to get you through this and we're all dead proud of you," Samson assured her.

Back at the farm, Sam was irate with Samson over his revelation and ordered his son to personally apologise to Lydia for what he'd done.

Samson turned the tables on his dad, insisting Sam "wasn't there for Lydia" when he should have been. When Sam said it wasn't a fair criticism, Samson shot back that taking everything out on him wasn't fair either.

"I guess we've both got problems," Samson quipped.

Later, at Home Farm, Will comforted Sam when he broke down in tears. Will gave Sam the afternoon off and shared a heart-to-heart talk with him over a beer.

Unbeknownst to Sam, Will texted Cain to come over. The two men offered to "bury the hatchet" since Sam needed some support.

Will left the two Dingles alone, with Sam admitting to Cain he felt like "less of a man" because he couldn't take revenge on Craig.

"You've got to let it go, or at least try to," Cain encouraged.

Sam insisted he couldn't simply let it go, explaining that the whole situation was driving him mad. Cain reminded him that they could handle Craig with the law… or the Dingle Law.

"Lydia said she definitely don't want [anything] like that," Sam explained.

Cain then argued: "She's in no state to see what it's doing to you."

He then offered to "sort it" for Sam if it's what he really wants, telling him: "You just have to give me the word?"

Will the Dingles "sort" Craig for good?

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
