Emmerdale's Cain to make a life-changing decision over his son Kyle

Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale bad boy Cain Dingle shocks his wife Moira next week as he vows to cut all contact with his young son Kyle Winchester.

Cain has fiercely defended his right to be involved in Kyle's upbringing recently, but everything changes next week when he starts to realise that the schoolboy might be better off without him.

Last year, Cain's bitter feud with Al Chapman ended in tragedy when Kyle stepped in and shot Al dead. After Kyle came clean and was released on bail, he was banned from having any contact with Cain before the court case.

In next week's episodes, there's another example of Kyle's worrying behaviour when he ends up in a violent altercation with Jimmy King's son Carl.

Carl's stepmum Nicola King threatens to call the police about Kyle's behaviour – much to the concern of Amy Wyatt.

United in worry over their son, Cain and Amy team up and urge Nicola not to involve the police.

Nicola eventually agrees, but as Cain listens to what she thinks about the situation, he feels terrible to realise that the Emmerdale community blames his poor parenting for Kyle's violence.

After some serious soul-searching, Cain tells Moira that they need to let Kyle go for his own good.

Cain brands himself a bad influence on Kyle, so suggests that Amy should have full custody of the boy. He also promises to completely cut himself out of Kyle's life and proposes that Amy should move away with him.

Moira warns Cain that he's making a mistake that will haunt him for the rest of his life, but will Amy see this as her big chance to have Kyle all to herself?

Jeff Hordley, who plays Cain, recently hinted at this story when asked whether his character blames himself for the current problems surrounding Kyle.

Jeff said at the time: "I think that's to come. At the moment, I don't think he has that self-awareness. But I think that's about to come.

"As Jeff, I can see that Cain is not being particularly reasonable. But in Cain's head, he's just acting on instinct as he normally does."

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
