Emmerdale's Charley Webb supported by soap friends as she shares new role
Former Emmerdale star Charley Webb has secured a role in the stage play Quiz, which dramatises the story of infamous Who Wants to be a Millionaire? contestant Charles Ingram, the 'Coughing Major' scandal around his win, and subsequent trial.
Charley, who played Debbie Dingle on the ITV soap, confirmed her casting yesterday on Instagram yesterday (July 18), telling followers: "I've been so excited to announce this. I'll be making my stage debut in Quiz as Diana Ingram, written by the amazing @misterjamesgraham.
"We're opening in @chichesterft on Friday 22nd September and we'll be going on tour for 9 weeks to some amazing theatres. Very nervous but very excited. Link in my bio. Who's coming?
"Directed by the brilliant @daniel_gwyn_evans & Sean Linnen. Produced by @wessexgrove, Jonathan Church Theatre Productions & Gavin Kalin Productions."

Reacting to his half-sister's exciting new role, Hollyoaks star Jamie Lomas promised that he'd "be there" come opening night, while fellow Emmerdale stars past and present including Lisa Riley, Adam Thomas, Hayley Tamaddon, Eden Taylor-Draper and Karen Blick each shared messages of support.
"Fabulous. I'm defo coming," said Blick, while Taylor-Draper replied: "I'M SO EXCITED."
Webb is part of a cast that includes impressionist Rory Bremner as Millionaire quizmaster Chris Tarrant, plus I May Destroy You's Lewis Reeves as Charles Ingram.

They'll be joined by Waterloo Road star Mark Benton, playing several roles including TV exec David Liddiment and prolific Millionaire repeat contestant Paddy Spooner.
Quiz was adapted into a three-part ITV series by Graham from his own script back in 2020. Directed by Stephen Frears it starred Good Omens star Michael Sheen as Tarrant, with Succession's Matthew Macfadyen as Charles Ingram and Fleabag star Sian Clifford as Diana Ingram. It proved to be a resounding hit.
