Faith's health is rapidly deteriorating following the sad news that her cancer has spread to her brain.

Faith is upset when it becomes clear that she may have to start relinquishing control of her life.

Faith decides on a do-not-resuscitate order and chooses Cain to have lasting power of attorney. Although Chas understands Faith's decision, she can't help feeling stung.

It's also difficult for everyone to talk about the time when Faith won't be able to make her own decisions anymore.

Later, Cain seeks advice from local lawyer Ethan Anderson, then returns to see Faith to finalise the details of her last wishes.

Faith becomes distressed by the difficult conversation and gets confused, believing that Cain is her abusive ex-husband Shadrach, who died in 2010.

Emmerdale bosses recently hinted that Faith's final scenes will air in October as part of the soap's 50th anniversary episodes.

Executive producer Jane Hudson told Digital Spy and other media: "As we start our birthday month, we'll be focusing on our Faith storyline, which is a huge storyline for us at the moment.

"Then we will work our way into our storm week."

She continued: "The Faith story is such an emotional and heartbreaking story. It's going to be huge across our 50th.

"I think everybody involved in that story is pulling out some of the most amazing performances I've seen in soap for a long time. So that's got a huge part to play."

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV and streams on the ITV Hub.
