Emmerdale's Kim Tate to be caught out by Lydia Dingle in death plot

Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale producer Laura Shaw has teased that Kim Tate will be caught out by Lydia Dingle in their ongoing storyline.

It was revealed earlier this month that Kim and Cain were partly responsible for the death of Craig Reed, with the pair letting him die from his injuries after a clash with Kim's horse.

The matter was confused by Sam's previous assault on Craig, with the family believing – for the time being – that Craig succumbed to injuries from this conflict.

Talking to Digital Spy and other media, Shaw teased the upcoming drama for the family, with Kim and Cain set to come clean about the true events of that fateful night.

"Lydia is still struggling after her horrific ordeal at the hands of Craig and we'll see that continue," she said.

"Her and Sam will find out what happened that night that we saw in the big Dingles' week with Kim – that will all come out. How will they cope with that news?

"It's going to test Lydia and Kim's friendship, which we all love. We'll see in the new year if they can get their friendship back on track. Similarly for Sam and Lydia – are they ever going to get through this?

"Hopefully the new year's going to bring some new hope for them."

Lydia isn't the only Dingle who faces drama over the festive season, with Marlon set to feature heavily as wife Rhona and Gus progress in their storyline.

Rhona recently discovered that her ex-husband Gus had secretly used her frozen embryos to help his wife Lucy, but tragedy struck as the latter died during childbirth.

"What we'll see going forward is Gus starting to struggle a little bit with his grief and being a single parent to little Ivy," Shaw explained.

"That's going to hugely impact Rhona and Marlon's Christmas – how is Marlon going to cope if Rhona wants to reach out and help Ivy?"

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
