Emmerdale has confirmed a new hurdle for Lydia Dingle's marriage to Sam.

Lydia decides to walk out on Sam next week in the ongoing fallout from Craig Reed's murder.

Craig was recently found dead on Home Farm land after being brutally beaten.

This week's episodes focus on Lydia's attempts to find out who was responsible as she quizzes her family during a lock-in at The Woolpack, aware that one of them must have taken revenge following her rape ordeal.

The truth is expected to be revealed on screen this week, so we can only share a small amount of detail about next week's episodes at this stage.

Next week sees police interviews continue, as detectives are determined to find the culprit who killed Craig.

Sam is horrified when Lydia announces that she'll be moving out of the family home.

Lydia's friend and boss Kim Tate kindly offers to let her move into Home Farm while she considers her future.

An upset Sam can't help fearing that he has lost Lydia for good, while his son Samson is keen to fix things.

Does this mean the father-son duo have been keeping secrets about Craig's death?

James Hooton, who plays Sam, recently told us: "I think we come to realise that Sam is concealing further information, that could lead to a conclusion as to what's happened to Craig."

He continued: "Given the death of the individual concerned and everything else that happens, there is a question mark over whether Sam and Lydia can get back to a sense of normality. You would hope that their bond and strength as a couple allows that to happen over time.

"Lydia, Sam and Samson are a strong family unit, despite the perils and problems they've faced, so we hope that love prevails as a family."

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
