‘An Enemy Of The People’ Starring Jeremy Strong & Michael Imperioli Recoups $5.5 Million Broadway Capitalization

An Enemy of The People, the Broadway revival starring Jeremy Strong and Michael Imperioli, has recouped its $5.5 million capitalization, producers announced today.

Nominated for five Tony Awards, the production, adapted by Amy Herzog and directed by Sam Gold, began previews at Circle in the Square Theatre on February 27. The limited engagement closes June 23.

The production has broken the previous Circle in the Square box office record of $917,008, held by the 2014 production of The River starring Hugh Jackman, 16 times. Enemy routinely sells out and posts weekly grosses in excess of $1 million.

The Ibsen revival is nominated for 5 Tony Awards including Best Revival of a Play, Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Play (Jeremy Strong), Best Scenic Design of a Play (dots), Best Costume Design of a Play (David Zinn), and Best Lighting Design of a Play (Isabella Byrd).
