Residents in Enterprise, N.W.T., will vote in a byelection in May to fill council seats left vacant after several would-be councillors resigned last month.

The hamlet's last election in February saw Sandra McMaster installed as mayor, a decision that prompted three people who were elected to council alongside her to resign their seats before they were sworn-in. Another sitting councillor also resigned, leaving only McMaster and two others on council.

One of the councillors told CBC at the time they didn't have confidence in McMaster to lead the hamlet through its current situation as it recovers from last year's wildfire.

Nominations for the byelection are open until April 15 at 3 p.m.

Early voting opens April 29, and voting day will be May 6.
