On 10 December, it was announced that Japanese actress Erika Toda is married to Japanese actor Tori Matsuzaka.

“I am grateful towards all who have supported me. I hope to work even harder as an actress, and would be blessed if you can watch over us,” reported Toda on her Twitter.

Matsuzaka also tweeted a similar message, “With changes to my personal life, I hope to be even more responsible and determined, to sincerely face any challenges.”

The couple has starred together in a 2015 Japanese comedy film titled April Fools (pictured in above tweet). As there were no rumours about their relationship, it was assumed that everything began from there. Despite both of them being relatively popular in Japan, their love story has been unusually low-profile and quiet.

Regarding the sudden marriage, fans are mostly shocked at the turn of events. Some also thought that Toda and Japanese actor Tsuyoshi Muro looked more compatible after the two posted paparazzi-style photos on their Instagram to promote their 2018 romantic drama Don’t Forget Me. A few even went back to comment on Muro’s two-year-old post, giving him words of encouragement.

Toda is best known for her role as Misa Amane in the 2006 Death Note movies, and for her compelling performances in psychological drama Liar Game and medical drama Code Blue. Matsuzaka is also a well-known actor in Japan who has won multiple awards, including Best Newcomer in the 33rd Yokohama Film Festival for We Can't Change the World. But, We Wanna Build a School in Cambodia. He has also recently starred as a disabled architect in 2019 romantic drama Perfect World.
