Escape to the Chateau's Dick & Angel Strawbridge launch new podcast
Escape to the Chateau stars Dick and Angel Strawbridge have launched a new weekly podcast, inviting listeners into their home once more.
Titled Dick & Angel’s Chat…eau, the podcast promises to reveal more about the daily lives of the couple and their family, as well as an up-to-date account of their beloved Château de la Motte-Husson in the idyllic French countryside in Pays de la Loire, and its ongoing upkeep.
Millions tuned in to watch the original TV series that led to Dick and Angel's fame. In their new podcast, Dick and Angel will invite listeners into their lives once again, providing a closer look at family life in the chateau, and a fresh understanding of their extraordinary home, with plenty of light-hearted chatter and jokes along the way.
Escape to the Chateau, which first launched in 2016, followed the couple and their two children, Arthur and Dorothy, and their dog Petale, as they transformed a derelict castle, as well as the chief headquarters of their business.
The renovation brought to life a neglected 12-acre, five-floor property, nestled in a blissful rural setting. The chateau has no less than 45 rooms and seven outbuildings, and the grounds also include a walled garden, orangery and moat.
The successful Channel 4 show, which spanned nine series, ended in December 2022 with one final Christmas celebration.
A new spin-off travel series was in the works, but in May 2023, Channel 4 announced it had parted ways with the couple: 'Following a review, we have taken the decision not to work with Dick and Angel on any new productions in the future.'
The announcement followed a leaked audio recording of Angel allegedly swearing at a crew member.
Production company Two Rivers Media also confirmed in a statement that they would 'no longer work with Dick and Angel'.
Later in May, Dick and Angel released a statement via Instagram, saying: 'There are two sides to every story and from the incredible support we have received, most of you know that.
'We are proud of who we are, and we feel we must do what we believe to be correct, that is in fact what kept Escape to the Chateau unique, and whilst we have indeed parted ways with Channel 4, we are hugely grateful to them and their teams for their support and creativity over the years.'
