Ethan Hawke to receive Donostia award at San Sebastian Festival

Ethan Hawke will pick up the 2016 Donostia Lifetime Achievement Award at the 64th San Sebastian Film Festival, in a dedicated ceremony on September 17.

Hawke will receive the honor just prior to the festival's gala screening of "The Magnificent Seven," which co-stars Denzel Washington.

"Hawke's career, spanning 30 years and four Academy Award nominations, has solidified his reputation as a truly multifaceted artist, challenging himself as a screenwriter, director, novelist, and actor of the stage and screen," the San Sebastian Festival said in a statement.

In addition to Hawke's honor, the festival will award Mexican actor Gael Garcia Bernal with the Jaeger-LeCoultre Latin Cinema Award, in celebration of the actor's contributions to Latin cinema, while Sigourney Weaver will be awarded another Donostia Award for her career achievements.

The San Sebastian Festival runs September 16-24.
