Ethan and Olivia Plath Attempt to 'Move On' After Divorce in Tear-Soaked “Welcome to Plathville” Trailer (Exclusive)

"Between me or your family, you were going to pick your family," Olivia tells Ethan in the new supertease

The upcoming season of Welcome to Plathville has no shortage of love, heartbreak and new beginnings.

PEOPLE exclusively gives fans a glimpse into season 6 of the TLC reality series, which returns July 16, with the new supertease. The two-minute trailer starts off by showing all the Plaths in their new stages of life.

“The last couple months have really been a time of transition,” says Kim Plath, matriarch of the Plath family.

After she and her ex-husband Barry Plath divorced last season following 24 years together, both tell the cameras they went through significant changes within themselves. Kim, however, does not entirely agree.

“I'm not real sure Barry has loosened up as much as I have,” she says of her 56-year-old ex.

The following scenes of the preview show the kids of the family as they navigate old and new relationships. Kim, 52, is even seen seemingly giving daughter Moriah tips on how to seduce a man, a sharp change from her past objections to Moriah’s dating life.

“Go over to the guy, grab his tie and then pull him,” she demonstrates to the 21-year-old.

The other major rift in the family is between Ethan and Olivia Plath, both 26, who decided to officially end their marriage in the season 5 finale after five years of marriage. Now re-entering the world single, both are unsure how to approach dating given their limited experience in the past.

“Dating after marrying the first guy that you ever even held hands with is wild,” Olivia tells the cameras.

Ethan feels similarly, saying, “It’s intimidating a little bit to approach a beautiful woman.”

Younger brother Micah, 23, isn’t having much trouble in his love life, revealing he moved to Florida to be with his new girlfriend.

“I’m a little hesitant to put this relationship out in the open just because I have seen a lot happen with relationships in my family,” he admits.

The next clip shows Ethan reuniting with his family, who he has had a contentious relationship with after they disapproved of Olivia’s influence on him during their marriage.

“There are a whole bunch of things I'd love to talk to Ethan about,” Kim teases as the family gathers outside.

Because the two struggled to be accepted by the Plaths, ultimately leaving Olivia and Kim not on speaking terms, Olivia largely blamed the downfall of their relationship on Ethan’s parents. This season documents the estranged couple facing the issues that drove them apart.

“Between me or your family, you were going to pick your family,” Olivia claims.

Ethan claps back: “That's because you made me choose.”

As for her own heartbreak, Moriah is shown crying in her moms arms as she ominously tells the cameras that “bad things happen, and sometimes you get hurt and sometimes you hurt people.”

Cutting back to Ethan and Olivia’s conversation marks the ending of the trailer, as Ethan questions Olivia about how she “can move on so easily after seven years.”

“Who said it was easy?” she replies.

In the final scene of the intense sneak peek, Olivia and Moriah sit down together, and Olivia has one thing she wants Moriah to know: “I really did love your brother.”

Moriah assures Olivia that she knows, and the trailer comes to a dramatic end.
