Euphoria star Dominic Fike opens up on co-star split

Euphoria star Dominic Fike has opened up about his break up with co-star Hunter Schafer after they became Instagram official last year.

Fike, who joined the cast of Euphoria in season two, plays Elliot in the show, while Hunter Schafer has played Jules from the series' inception. Elliot joined as a new friend of Rue, played by Zendaya, and comes between her and Jules, who are in a relationship.

Fike and Schafer sparked up a romance off-screen and confirmed their relationship to the public via Instagram in February 2022. However, the break-up was confirmed in a profile of Fike that The LA Times recently published.

Now, in an interview with Zane Lowe for Apple Music, Fike has spoken about the break-up, after Lowe commented that love shouldn't come from needing another person.

"That has actually bled into my romantic relationships, that kind of dynamic and it is often the cause of the end of my relationship," Fike said. However, the actor said that despite the break-up, he is still looking forward to Euphoria season three with his castmates.

"I have a better dynamic with everybody. I mean, well, I don't know. Almost everybody. I think it'll be fine. We're all adults, kind of. I'm trying," Fike said.

Previously, Fike opened up about his drug use while filming the show. His character is a drug user, but creator Sam Levinson had hired a "sober coach" to help Fike stay off of drugs in real life. Unfortunately, that didn't happen.

"I was a drug addict and coming on to a show that's, you know, mainly about drugs, is very difficult," he said.

"Sam, the director and writer, got me a sober coach, somebody to be there all the time. It did not work."

Euphoria can be streamed on Max in the US and via Sky Go and NOW in the UK.
