Euphoria star says she hasn’t paid rent in months amid season 3 delays

Euphoria star Nika King has said she hasn’t paid her rent in six months amid season 3 delays.

The HBO show has been off air since 2022, with work on the next season pushed back amid last year's Hollywood strikes and creator Sam Levinson's work on short-lived TV series The Idol.

King, who plays Rue Bennett's (Zendaya) mother Leslie on the show, has now shared a TikTok of a recent stand-up set, where she opened up about the strain that the delays have had on her life.

Captioned with the words: "[Please] stop asking me about s3," the actress said in the clip: “Season 3 is coming out… I don’t f***ing know. Don’t ask me. I don’t know.

"It’s one of those things. People are like, ‘We need season 3.’ I’m like, ‘Bitch, I need season 3. I haven’t paid my rent in six months.'”

Referring to her co-star, King quipped: “Zendaya's over in Paris in Fashion Week, I'm like, 'Bitch, come home. I need you. Mama needs you.' Y'all laughing, and I’m serious.

“I haven’t booked nothing since Euphoria," she continued. "This is some bullshit. I thought my career was on the rise after Euphoria. I thought I was good. It don’t work that way. I called Taraji [P Henson] and she was like, ‘Bitch, get used to it.'”

Co-star Colman Domingo, who plays Ali, recently explained the delays, telling GQ: “[Sam is] a person who writes and rewrites and writes and rewrites again, because I think he’s wrestling with what’s important.

“He’s responding immediately to what the ills of the world are. I know that the one thing I can tell you is that he’s very much interested in the existential question of who we are right now. Our souls. That’s what he wants to figure out with season three.”

Euphoria airs on HBO in the US and on NOW and Sky Atlantic in the UK.
