Euphoria's Colman Domingo shares sweet story of how he met husband Raúl

Euphoria star Colman Domingo has shared the magical story of how he and husband Raúl met.

The actor, who has recently starred in biographical historical drama Rustin as the titular civil rights activist Bayard Rustin, appeared on The Graham Norton Show to discuss the film, and ended up describing the story of how he met the love of his life in 2005 via a 'missed connections' ad on Craiglist.

"So I’m walking in, and I see someone walking out, has beautiful hair down to here, lip piercing, beautiful," he explained, after setting the scene of a Walgreens in Berkley, California.

"I see this guy, and we look at each other, and I’m like: 'Oh my god.' I’m on the phone, and I come outside, and we look at each other. He’s talking to this young woman, and she seems to be angry about something," he continued, before adding that the situation was slightly tense.

Domingo then got off the phone just as the mystery man and the woman walked off – but the man kept looking back at Colman.

"I wave, but he just keeps going, and I'm just dumbfounded, and I end up in a Blockbuster across the street, and I decide to look at my watch, and it was 8:03.

"And I came back outside, and I thought: 'Is he here?' and I thought: 'Maybe I’ll come back next Sunday and he’ll be here.' I’m that kind of hopeless romantic."

The tale continued with Domingo describing how he posted an advert for a 'missed connection' on ad website Craiglist – and found something remarkable waiting for him.

"He posted an ad for me two hours before. I jumped up, and I was like, 'Are you kidding me? That’s me," he said. "He described me with my fauxhawk – it was 2005 – and we met up three days later, we had our first date."

Domingo ended up staying over at Raúl's request, and recounted to Norton that when he found himself unable to sleep at 4am, he told Raúl: "'I think I love you and you’re about to change my life.' And we’ve been together almost 19 years."

Co-guests on the show Sterling K Brown, Dakota Johnson and Domhnall Gleeson all reacted with appropriate amounts of wonder, with Madame Web star Johnson saying to Domingo: "You're like, the most magical creature on the planet."

Rustin is available to stream on Netflix.
