Evan Ross on the Secret to 10-Year Marriage to Wife Ashlee Simpson Ross (Exclusive)

"I think that we love each other, and it's meant to be," the musician said about his relationship

Evan Ross is opening up about his 10-year marriage to Ashlee Simpson Ross.

During Operation Smile's Malibu Family Fun Fest in Malibu, Calif., on Saturday, June 1, the musician revealed the secret to his happy marriage.

"I don't know. I think that we love each other, and it's meant to be," he tells PEOPLE. "And we enjoy each other's company, and we love our children."

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay actor adds that he and his wife "love each other," and they try to keep things "exciting."

"We're staying in Malibu this weekend. It's nice," he continues.

Evan also gave insight into how his family will be spending the rest of the summer, saying that they have "a lot of" vacations planned, including a trip to Hawaii and multiple trips to Europe.

The celebrity couple began dating in July 2013 and tied the knot the following year. They went on to welcome two children together: daughter Jagger Snow, 8, and son Ziggy Blu, 3. Ashlee also shares son Bronx Mowgli, 15, with ex-husband Pete Wentz.

In February, Evan and Ashlee spoke with PEOPLE about their upcoming marriage milestone as they will have been married for 10 years in August.

"We have big things coming up at the end of the year," the "Pieces of Me" singer teased. "It's our 10-year anniversary, I turn 40, my son turns 16."

"We always celebrate and have the best time, but I feel like it doesn't have to just be that day," she added. "It's finding those moments, which my husband's so good at."

She added: "I feel like if we haven't had a moment, [he'll] take me to a hotel or [if] we've been in kid land, he'll surprise me with a nice together alone moment, which is nice."

Back in April, the couple told PEOPLE that they’re "cool parents" and reflected on bringing Bronx and his friend to Coachella. Ashlee said that Evan is "probably cooler" than her. Evan chimed in and said, "I think we're cool parents."
