Danny Masterson and Bijou Phillips are parting ways after more than a decade of marriage.

In September 2023, Phillips filed for divorce, according to TMZ, after Masterson was convicted of rape.

"Ms. Phillips has decided to file for divorce from her husband during this unfortunate time. Her priority remains with her daughter," Phillips' lawyer, Peter A. Lauzon, told the outlet.

The couple — who worked together on projects including 2009's Made for Each Other — dated for eight years before tying the knot in October 2011. They welcomed their only child together in February 2014.

Phillips was by Masterson's side during his rape trial, where he was sentenced to 30 years to life in prison on Sept. 7, 2023, after being found guilty on two counts of rape. She was in the courtroom — alongside members of Masterson’s family — for the sentencing, according to Variety.

In June 2024, PEOPLE learned that the actress is dating businessman Jamie Mazur.

Phillips is the daughter of John Phillips, the frontman of The Mamas and the Papas. Her mom is South African model and singer Geneviève Waïte, who was John's third wife. Together, they welcomed Phillips on April 1, 1980 in Greenwich, Connecticut.

Phillips has an older brother named Tamerlane, as well as three half-siblings — Mackenzie, Jeffrey and Chynna — from her dad's previous marriages.

In 1985, Phillips' parents divorced. In 2001, John died of heart failure. In 2019, Waïte "passed away in her sleep," Phillips confirmed in a statement exclusively obtained by PEOPLE at the time.

“She was a beautiful soul, and born from another planet," Phillips said of her mom. "Her ideas, her songs, her voice, and her heart beat to a beautiful African rhythm no one else had and I am so thankful she was able to share it. She was a light, a fairy, and a gift of a creature."

Phillips continued, "The lyrics she wrote on her album were timeless and smart. Her mind was poetry and wit, her sense of humor was quick and dry. She was like a child in a way, who was too smart for her own good.”

As the daughter of a rock legend, Phillips was introduced to the entertainment industry at an early age, and that exposure led to her becoming a model as a teenager.

In an interview with Howard Stern in 2000, Phillips recalled her introduction to the modeling industry, explaining how she was scouted at a horseback riding show. The first gig she booked was the cover of Interview Magazine around age 13.

However, she said she "only did it for about three months," going on to explain the choice her father gave her. "I was like 13," she said. "And my dad was like, 'You can go to New York and model or you can stay in boarding school.'"

In addition to gracing the front of Interview Magazine, Phillips also booked the cover of Vogue Italia in 1995. She also appeared in several Calvin Klein campaigns, among shooting for other publications including Playboy.
