Exclusive: Coronation Street star Ryan Prescott reveals romantic chances for Ryan and Daisy

Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street star Ryan Prescott has spoken about the possibility of his character Ryan Connor and Rovers barmaid Daisy Midgeley becoming a proper couple.

Ryan and Daisy are currently keeping their distance from each other after twice sharing secret kisses earlier this year, but they'll be back in each other's orbits within the next few weeks.

Viewers saw Ryan and Daisy bond after their involvement in the horrific acid attack at the Rovers Return earlier this year. However, their feelings for each other are complicated as Daisy is still engaged to Daniel Osbourne.

Ryan Prescott reflected on the storyline while taking part in an Inside Soap magazine photoshoot to celebrate Coronation Street's nominations at the Inside Soap Awards 2023.

Digital Spy was granted exclusive video access to the shoot and spoke to each of the cast involved.

Asked whether his character could get together with Daisy, Ryan told Digital Spy: "There's definitely a chance, he's rooting for it! When you've been through an extreme violence situation with someone, it bonds you together. So there's always this silent bond between Ryan and Daisy and I think we get to expand on that a little bit.

"Ryan is pretty much falling in love with Daisy, although it's the last thing that he wants to admit to himself. That becomes part of his denial. There's a lot of psychologically twisted 'maybes' in there, but there's definitely a chance for them.

"But I think there's something else to be said as well – Ryan also has respect for Daniel, so it puts them both in a very awkward situation."

Charlotte Jordan, who plays Daisy, has already confirmed that her character will get involved in Ryan's big new storyline.

Next week's episodes see Ryan set up an x-rated account on an Only Fans-style platform after Peter Barlow puts pressure on him to start contributing towards the rent at the flat.

Ryan sees the online account as a way to make some quick cash, but he also enjoys the confidence boost he receives from his followers.

Speaking about the storyline, Ryan Prescott continued: "For Ryan, it's 100% about the validation. There is a financial side to it where he's trying to help pay rent to Peter and Carla. They're indebted to Rufus' wife because of the stolen watch, so he's trying to do his bit.

"It's also for Ryan to feel that he's still independent. That becomes another justification for him for why he should do this work and I think that's all he needs. But it's much more about the validation than anything else."

Ryan also reflected on Corrie's nominations at the Inside Soap Awards 2023, which will take place this September.

On why Corrie deserves support this year, Ryan said: "We've pulled out all the stops, we really have. I know every soap does!

"All I can say is we're literally working around the clock to try and create new storylines and new ideas that bring people in. As actors, we're trying our best to create nuanced performances that help people to invest and relate to the characters.

"People are always going through things themselves, so if they can see a little bit of something within those roles and those storylines, I think that's the most important thing. It's worth going for it – give Corrie a vote this year!"

Ryan features in the Best Actor, Best Storyline and Best Showstopper categories at the Inside Soap Awards and you can watch our full behind-the-scenes video from the nominees photoshoot at the top of the page.
