Exclusive: EastEnders star on Cindy return and flashforward theory

EastEnders star Harriet Thorpe has teased Cindy Beale's upcoming return, and what it will mean for her character Elaine.
Elaine returned to Walford earlier this year, and wasted no time in moving her partner George and his two daughters Gina and Anna into The Vic with her. George's mysterious missing wife 'Rose' was later revealed to be none other than Cindy Beale in a major twist back in June.
Cindy was last seen on screen in 1998 and has been presumed dead since later that year. However, Cindy is returning to the show alongside her ex-husband Ian Beale, with Adam Woodyatt also reprising his role.

Harriet has now shared some early gossip on what Cindy's return to Walford could mean for Elaine at an exclusive photoshoot for Inside Soap magazine to celebrate EastEnders nominations at this year's Inside Soap Awards. Elaine is up for Best Newcomer, while Cindy Beale's return from the dead is up for Best Showstopper.
Digital Spy was granted exclusive video access to the nominees photoshoot and chatted to each of the cast involved.
Speaking about Elaine's future, Harriet told us: "She is fierce and she is funny and she doesn't sit on the pity pot. Her strapline is: 'Get off the pity pot, crack a smile and get on with it'. That is what she does in life. It is not her first rodeo, she doesn't get hurt. She might be dealing with the Knights but she has her own armor."

Discussing Cindy's imminent return to Walford, Elaine said: "Cindy is slightly troubling and she is a slight problem. But you know Elaine's nickname, it's Hurricane Elaine. It's not going to be a problem for her."
Harriet also addressed one of the many fan theories surrounding the intriguing flashforward scene, which has suggested that Elaine could be unveiled as a secret seventh member of 'The Six'.
"Obviously Elaine lives and works in The Vic", Harriet said. "It's in her home. But sometimes she might be in the barrel store or upstairs…"
