Exclusive: Hollyoaks star Annie Wallace promises huge new story for McQueens

Hollyoaks spoilers follow.

Hollyoaks star Annie Wallace has revealed that the McQueen family will take centre stage in a huge new storyline later this year.

The chaotic clan have already faced a tough time over the past 12 months – enduring Silas Blissett's final revenge plan and the heartbreak of Bobby Costello killing Verity Hutchinson.

Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy on the red carpet at the British Soap Awards 2023, Annie promised that a major new plot involving the family will begin in the coming months.

Annie, who plays Sally St Claire, told us: "[Sally has] lost her job and she's struggling with the McQueens. She's trying to assert her authority over the McQueens. Now, if anyone knows the McQueen family, that's very difficult – but she's trying!

"Then later this year, we've got a relatively big story surrounding the whole family, which I can't tell you anything about at this stage, except that it's really good and it's really big and it's going to be fabulous.

"I've got a lot to look forward to for the entire family. But we've still not got Sally a girlfriend or a boyfriend yet! I keep hoping that's going to happen."

Asked which absent McQueens she'd like to see back in the show, Annie replied: "I'll always say Myra, because I loved working with Nicole [Barber-Lane, who played her]. I think Myra was a really good foil for the show. She was the mum, but she was a bit of a scrappy teenager as well! So I'd love to see her back.

"We've obviously got Theresa coming back, Jorgie [Porter] has been off having a lovely little baby, but she's going to come back at some point and that's going to be nice.

"I didn't know many of the other McQueens, because they left before I joined the show. But a big McQueen family is a great McQueen family, I think!"
