EXCLUSIVE: John Legend Joins Montblanc as Face of Legend Fragrance Line

Such is the spirit of Montblanc’s newest partnership with EGOT winner John Legend, who has joined the brand as the face of its flagship Legend fragrance line.

John Legend is the right artist to connect with Legend — it just makes sense,” said Philippe Benacin, chief executive officer of Montblanc parent company, Interparfums.

Legend will front all five fragrances comprising the hero collection, the first of which launched in 2011 while the latest, Legend Blue, landed in February and retails for $115.

“As a writer and composer, I love that Montblanc enables people to write their stories beautifully with precision and care, and in doing so, craft their own legacy and legend,” Legend said in a statement.

Indeed, the singer-songwriter’s debut campaign for the fragrance line depicts him sitting at a piano as he brainstorms a bespoke song inspired by the cedarwood-infused Legend Blue.

Last month, Legend performed at Montblanc’s 100th anniversary bash in Los Angeles, during which he hinted at a potential collaboration on the way.

“This is the first time we’ve had an artist of John’s caliber in our group, so we are very proud of him, and proud to have his music,” said Benacin, adding that talks are in progress for Legend to also front Montblanc’s accessories and signature Meisterstück pen — the latter of which makes a cameo in his campaign for Legend Blue.

Montblanc Legend will add its next fragrance in January 2026, which Legend, who has signed on with the brand for two years, will also front.

“Montblanc Legend and John Legend share much more than a name.…Montblanc is rooted in the culture of writing, [it is] a timeless brand that celebrates and fosters creativity and self-expression,” said Montblanc chief marketing and merchandising officer Vincent Montalescot in a statement. “As a songwriter, John Legend is a master storyteller with extraordinary creative talent, telling stories through his timeless and powerful music that move audiences across generations and geographies.”
