Experience late night visual art and music at Singapore Art Museum in January-March
If you are into contemporary art and live music, the Singapore Art Museum is the place to be on the second Friday night of every month.
During the “SAM Late Nights”, the museum is free entry and will be open until 10.30pm, with the first three sessions taking place on 12 January, 9 February and 9 March.
Visitors can catch the ongoing exhibition, Cinerama: Art and the Moving Image in Southeast Asia, featuring animation, films and audio-visual installations by contemporary artists across Asia, and meet its lead curator. The exhibition, which closes at 9pm on Fridays, explores individual and collective memory, identity and politics through moving images.
There will also be pop-up performances by electronic musicians and sonic artists deploying video loops and other visual projections. After the museum closes at 9pm, the musical programme kicks off on 12 January featuring Evanturetime, a.k.a. Singaporean producer Evan Low, followed by Amon Wong ft. Ffion on 9 February, and Canvas Conversations on 9 March.
If you fancy some grub and craft beer during the “SAM Late Nights”, you can savour them al fresco at the Standing Sushi Bar, which also closes at 10.30pm.
