Patrick Stump's work as the lead singer of Fall Out Boy made him cool to a generation — and now, the award-winning singer-songwriter is enjoying his time as a cool dad.

Thanks to his work on Marvel's Spidey and His Amazing Friends, which includes everything from guest appearances to creating a full-length album, Stump tells PEOPLE that he considers his kids' love of his role in the series to be an "amazing thing."

"They love the show," Stump shares of his kids, whose enthusiasm towards his work makes it "such a joy to get to talk about."

"I don't think people realize this is most of what I do these days. You see me on tour and whatever, and that's almost like a break from this. I'm so focused on Spider-Man right now and Spidey all year round," he continues.

Stump further notes his kids' love of his work on the series is wholly organic.

"When I'm working on stuff, I work on a song and it doesn't air for a year or two sometimes, so I'll forget, and I don't know when these things are coming out. So then my kids will just show up singing one of the songs. I'm like, ‘Oh, is the episode out?’ And it's really great," he shares.

According to the "Sugar, We're Going Down" singer, the cool factor extends to his kids' friends and their parents too.

He shares that while "taking one of my kids to gymnastics the other day," he experienced an instance where "one of the other parents came up" and told him how their "kids are such a big fan of the show," an instance that Stump considers "awesome" and "a whole other facet" of his fame.

All-in-all, Stump wants to "cherish it" while his kids are so enthralled by his work.

"No one's parents, no matter how cool you are, you are never going to be the cool parent," he admits. "Your kids are always going to grow. At some point, teenage years will hit and they'll think you're lame or whatever. So I'm savoring this. I'm like, this is the coolest I'm ever going to be."
