Family Honors 13-Year-Old Son by Asking Others to ‘Be Like Beck’: ‘He Was All About Fun’

After the sudden death of their 13-year-old son, a Lehi, Utah, family is encouraging others to “express how you feel about people.”
Beckham Cram died on Sunday, May 26 in his backyard pool, according to NBC affiliate KSL-TV and FOX affiliate KSTU-TV.
Now, his parents, Marc and Morgan Cram, are grieving his devastating death by remembering their son as someone who looked for fun everywhere and loved sports and performing — all accomplished with an ever-present smile on his face.
“It’s hard to believe just because of the person he was and the light that he brought,” Marc told KSL-TV.

“I always say he is his dad’s best friend, but he was my mama’s boy,” Morgan said, per the outlet. “He loved to love and I mean that kid would go to the grocery store with me and carry the groceries, take them upstairs for me, everything, do anything, as long he got [candy], it is fine.”

The family is now hoping that through their unexpected loss, they can motivate others to “be like Beck,” according to a GoFundMe campaign set up in his memory.
"Don't wait for someone to die to share with them the impact they had on your life," Marc told KSTU-TV, sharing that after visiting with his son's football team, he told them, "Don't wait to express how you feel about people. Don't wait for them to pass away."
On Sunday, June 2, Beckham’s family and friends will honor the middle-schooler with what they hope will be an “unforgettable” funeral, where they will be "giving BE LIKE BECK gear to all attendees."
“Beckham always brought a smile to our faces and lit up the room every time he walked in,” the organizer of the online campaign wrote. “Let’s light up the room for him and celebrate his life with joy and love.”
In addition to his parents, Beckham leaves behind four brothers and one sister and multiple extended family members.
“He would want no tears and just all laughter,” Marc told KSL-TV. “So, we are going to pay [our] respect but we are going to do it in the best way possible for Beck.”
