FPL tips: Who to buy, captain and latest team news for gameweek 36
It’s approaching crunch time for Fantasy Premier League managers in gameweek 36 as the FPL season reaches an exciting crescendo.
Newcastle and Brighton both enjoy double gameweeks, leading to many plumping for players from both of the surprise-package Europe-chasers.
But good fixtures for the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool could tempt you into favouring quality over quantity ahead of this week’s FPL deadline, which comes at 11am BST on Saturday.
Alexander Isak - Newcastle - £7m
How best to utilise Newcastle’s double gameweek (over Brighton, who have too-hard games to be worth stretching yourself over) is a big question for GW36. Kieran Trippier is always capable of points at both ends, even if on a bit of a drought, whereas Callum Wilson is the most popular pick of the week in terms of pure numbers. Isak, however, is the better bet given he’s more likely to start both games and has produced returns in five of his last six starts against teams outside the top four.
Mohamed Salah - Liverpool - £13.1m
With 11 goals in his last 12 games, Salah has flown under-the-radar slightly with barely a third of FPL managers plumping for the Liverpool winger. A damaged Leicester side welcome the Reds on Monday night.
Martin Odegaard - Arsenal - £6.7m
The Arsenal captain has rarely endured a fallow period this season despite ranking under Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka for selection rate - both of whom he has outscored. Odegaard is hitting form when his team needs him most, averaging almost nine points-per-game in the last five gameweeks.
Bruno Fernandes - Manchester United - £9.4m
The Red Devils have been particularly goal-shy of late but their remaining fixtures should provide ample opportunities to dominate games and rack up some points. Bournemouth and Chelsea are up in next week’s double, after a Wolves side that may well be on the beach rock up to Old Trafford this weekend.
