A female driver has died after a crash in Brampton early Monday morning, Peel Regional Police say.

Emergency crews were called to the area of Highway 50 and Coleraine Drive around 6:35 a.m. for report of a two-vehicle collision involving a transport truck, police say.

Peel paramedics say the driver of the vehicle — a female— was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the truck did not suffer any injuries. No other details of the victim have been released at this time.

An investigation is underway into the cause of the collision, police spokesperson Richard Chin told reporters at the scene. He said the truck driver remained on scene and is co-operating with police.

Roads in the area are closed Monday afternoon.

Anyone with dashcam footage is asked to contact investigators.
