Fergie salutes Barca superiority, says no shame in losing to the greatest

London, May 29 (ANI): Manager Alex Ferguson has saluted Barcelona as the greatest team he has ever faced, and added that the Spanish club was far better than Manchester United following Sunday's 1-3 loss at Wembley. The Sun quoted Fergie, as saying: "We were beaten - there is no other way to address the situation - by the best team. I expected us to do better but they are the best team we have ever played. They are at the peak in this cycle of their team." "No one has given us a hiding like that. It's a great moment for them. They deserve it because they play the right way and they enjoy their football. They mesmerise you with their passing and we never really controlled Messi. When we got the lifeline of Wayne Rooney I expected us to do better in the second half but it wasn't to be," he added. "There was good evidence we are a consistently good European team but we were beaten by the best team in Europe and there is no shame in that," Ferguson said. "We are just disappointed it has ended on this note," he added. (ANI)
