Final Fantasy XIV has revealed the first full details of Patch 6.4, while also confirming a Blue Mage update that will be rolled out not long afterwards.

During Live Letter 76, director Naoki Yoshida and global community producer Toshio Murouchi discussed what players can expect in the next patch, which will launch in late May.

Titled 'The Dark Throne', Patch 6.4 will include new Main Scenario Quests, new dungeon The Aetherfont, new trial The Voidcast Dais (plus Extreme), and Pandæmonium: Anabaseios, the final part of the eight-player Pandæmonium raid series. The Savage versions of Anabaseios will release one week later.

A new Unreal trial, Containment Bay Z1T9, is also confirmed, as well as a new Ocean Fishing route, Duty Support for a number of Stormblood MSQ dungeons, new Tataru’s Grand Endeavour quests, and updates to Island Sanctuary and PvP.

There will also be a few welcome quality-of-life improvements, including job icons displaying in the chat log and on player nameplates.

Meanwhile, the Blue Mage update will launch as part of Patch 6.45.

Blue Mage fans can expect the level cap to be increased to 80, as well as new spells, new Blue Mage-exclusive gear, and new enemies for The Masked Carnivale.

In addition, Patch 6.45 will feature a new Variant and Criterion dungeon (Mount Rokkon), weapon and tool enhancement quests, and the continuation of Somehow Further Hildibrand Adventures.

For those playing right now, the limited-time Hatching-tide event ends on April 10, so grab the Tonberry-themed gear and Frighten emote if you haven't already done so yet.

Previously, Patches 6.3-6.35 added the Euphrosyne alliance raid, the Omega Protocol Ultimate raid, a new Deep Dungeon (Eureka Orthos), and the Loporrits crafting tribal quest, as well as significantly revamping the Paladin job.

Elsewhere, Final Fantasy XIV won at the BAFTA Games Awards this week, taking home the prize for Evolving Game.
