Find some fashion treasure in Perth

Contrary to popular opinion, there are plenty of fashion treasures in Perth.

There’s a lot to admire in Perth: The gorgeous landscape, the exhilarating outdoor activities, and the shopping. Yes, Australia’s westernmost capital city is also a shopping haven. Large department stores like Myers and David Jones (the country’s oldest) may sell the latest brands, cosmetics, and home and designer collections, but you’d do well to head to the boutiques, where you’ll likely snag that special piece.

FREMANTLE
Along the main street is Eros and its stock of designer fashion. Think bright colours, a variety of textures, and a carefully curated selection that ranges from dresses to blouses and jeans to skirts. If you’re looking for something new, chances are you’ll find it there. Another notable boutique is Soul Sisters. The label features top designers such as Rachel Gilbert and Lisa Brown, which can fit your budget.

LEEDERVILLE
When Beyonce was here in 2009, she checked out retail outlets like Atlas Divine for its unique clothing, as well Harry & Gretel for its printed pieces, pastel hues, garments and accessories. Also worth a visit is the Yo Yo Buffalo, a quaint little spot that specialises in street wear and vintage clothing.

MT LAWLEY
If you’re looking for fashion that’s more high-end – with cool jewellery to match – stop at Department on Beaufort Street. Then make your way to Miin for tailored women’s wear; Black Beret for the latest looks of the season from Australian designers like Rachel Gilbert and Sara Phillips; and Billie & Rose for big-name Australian designers as well as up-and-coming ones.

MT HAWTHORN
Torso on Scarborough Beach Road carries some amazing dresses. Expect to find the newest pieces by Genetic Denim, Lisa Brown, Patrizia Pepe and Twinset there. They also sell jewellery and shoes.

NEDLANDS
Check in with Coco & Lola. Known as “the place to shop” for the latest fashion and accessories, it also carries labels like Twenty 8 twelve and Nina Maya. Elle, on the other hand, stocks many international brands, and offers made-to-measure and personalised styling services. Ricarda has an extensive range of designer dresses, knitwear, shoes and handbags. Its evolving selection includes Proenza Schouler and Comme des Garcons, and luxury pieces from local designers like Josh Goot and NOM*D. It’s also the place to find Trippen, Kartell and Vipp.
