Visuals on the web have come a long way from the static images of the 90s to the interactive videos we see today. Among one of the newest technologies being used is the ability to see videos in 360 degrees, which allows you to “see” the world as you would in real life.

Coupled with the Virtual Reality headsets that have started to hit the market, these offer a unique experience that can be both entertaining and informative to a user.

Here are five videos that show what this new tech can do.

1) Much Deadpool

This ad by 20th Century Fox for the Deadpool movie showed the comic book character… and then more of him. Everywhere you turn, there’s a Merc with a Mouth waiting for you.

2) A helicopter tour of the Victoria Falls

National Geographic brought viewers on a 360 helicopter tour of the beautiful Victoria Falls, seated between the border of Zambia and Zimbabwe, one of the biggest waterfalls on the planet.

3) Game of Thrones, in 360

The world of Westeros and Essos may be a familiar sight to those who watch HBO’s Game of Thrones series, but seeing it in 360 is another experience altogether. Launched to coincide with the show’s sixth season, this takes the already amazing animated credits to another level.

4) Singtel brings you closer to fencing

A local effort by Singapore telco Singtel decided to show how fast their mobile network was by using their video stream to replace a person’s eyes. In addition to the video ad, there’s a behind the scenes of how one fencer is using Singtel’s network to “see”.

5) SpaceX rocket landing

This video of Elon Musk’s SpaceX company landing its reusable Falcon 9 rocket on a drone ship is the definition of “awesome”. If you need proof that the future of space travel is within reach, this is one 360 video you don’t want to miss.
