Florence Pugh Frees the Nipple, Margot Robbie Does Taylor Swift Cosplay and More Epic 2024 Oscars Outfit Changes
Everyone pulled out all the stops for the 'Vanity Fair' after party
The 2024 Oscars red carpet did not disappoint: Emma Stone wore a breathtaking mint-colored peplum dress (and promptly ripped it when Ryan Gosling performed "I'm Just Ken"). Oscar nominee America Ferrera wore Barbie pink for the first time, knocking it out of the park in her gorgeous Versace chainmail dress. And Cynthia Erivo channeled her Wicked character ever so perfectly in her green Louis Vuitton dress.
We could go on, but that's what our best dressed gallery is for. But the party didn't stop when the last Oscar was handed out at the Dolby Theatre. The stars scattered for the afterparties — most notably the Vanity Fair Oscar Party — and that's where we saw some of the best outfits of the night.
Ahead, find our favorite Oscars night outfit changes.

Florence Pugh
Florence Pugh started her 2024 Academy Awards night in a raindrop-covered silver Del Core gown. The structured bodice featured delicate water droplets that created a wet effect and caught the light. But for the Vanity Fair Oscar Party, the Oppenheimer actress swapped out the look for something a bit more daring: a sheer look by Simone Rocha for Jean Paul Gaultier Haute Couture. The bodice featured floral appliqués around the bust and a delicate train.
Margot Robbie
Margot Robbie officially retired Barbie pink for the 2024 Academy Awards and instead wore a structured brown Versace gown from the Spring Summer 2024 collection with a draped waist. While it was certainly a subdued look for Hollywood's biggest awards show, the star jazzed up her look for the Vanity Fair Oscar Party, wearing an archival Mugler corset. Stylist Andrew Mukamal dressed Robbie in a gold beaded corset from 1996 that looked straight out of Taylor Swift's Eras Tour wardrobe. She also draped herself in a rich brown shawl.
Jennifer Lawrence
Jennifer Lawrence walked the 2024 Academy Awards red carpet in a delightful strapless polka-dot Dior Haute Couture gown with a matching stole. For the Vanity Fair Oscar Party, she followed the trend of going archival and wore a Givenchy piece from the '90s. The actress wore a sheer white plunging Givenchy Haute Couture gown from the Winter 1996 collection with an empire waist and cap sleeves. It featured all-over silk acanthus embroidery.
Da'Vine Joy Randolph
Oscar winner Da'Vine Joy Randolph, who took home the 2024 Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in The Holdovers, accepted her award in a custom Louis Vuitton gown in a baby blue shade. The actress shimmered from head to toe, and the gown featured boa-like sleeves made of fringe. It also included a train for added drama. For the Vanity Fair Oscar Party, though, Randolph swapped out the gown for something better suited to party in. She wore an all-black look, including a formfitting black beaded gown and sheer black opera gloves. She even wore black lipstick to amp up the look!
America Ferrera
America Ferrera wore her most Barbie-appropriate look of all for the final awards show of the season: a pink Versace gown. Her chainmail dress for the 2024 Academy Awards took seven people in the atelier more than 400 hours to craft, and it went through 10 different iterations before it was perfect. For the Vanity Fair Oscar Party, stylist Karla Welch dressed Ferrera in a sparkly red suit dress for the Oscar nominee's celebratory night, which she wore over black tights and platform heels.
Charlize Theron
Charlize Theron's 2024 Academy Awards look was both elegant and over the top. Her silver Dior Haute Couture gown floated down the red carpet. But when it came to the actress' Boucheron jewels, she didn't hold back, piling on chokers, rings, bracelets and earrings. For the Vanity Fair Oscar Party, though, Theron went for a much darker look. Sticking with Dior Haute Couture, Theron wore a sheer black racerback gown from the Spring Summer 2024 collection with floral embroidery and crystal beading, embellished with black silk tulle.
Lupita Nyong'o
Lupita Nyong'o turned to her own Oscars history for her 2024 Academy Awards gown. Her custom periwinkle Armani Privé had plenty of dazzling details, including a plunging neckline, feather detail around the waist and hemline and jewels for days. The dress is a nod to Nyong'o's Oscar win in 2014 for 12 Years a Slave when she wore a baby blue Prada gown. The actress stuck with Armani Privé for the Vanity Fair Oscar Party but switched to a black dress instead, wearing a sequin halter-neck number with blue and green panels at the top and a small train.
