Following #watermelondress, Japan is now crazy over 'fruit dress'

What is “fruit dress”, you ask? Basically, it means taking sliced fruit and taking photos at a certain angle and distance, making them look like actual clothes on a person. It is really a test of creativity.

Previously, we saw #watermelondress slicing its way through Japan. Even top Japanese female idol group AKB48’s Sakura Miyawaki tried it on for size.

Recently, the Japanese have been getting their creative juices flowing by making use of fruits other than watermelon.

How about a peach for a baby’s butt?

OOTD: orange dress

Would you like a kiwi dress?

Or a pineapple dress?

Well, this works too.

A combination: cherries-grapes-melon dress!

Or mini tomatoes-lemon outfit? (Yes, guys can try out some OOTD too.)

This looks like something that will appear in fashion runway show.

Joining in the #fruitdress fun is easy. First, pick a fruit such as watermelon or pineapple, something you can cut into slices. Second, trim the slice into a dress shape. A triangle works fine, but including ‘sleeves’ gives you extra points for effort! Once you are satisfied with the shape, get a friend to hold the fruit and click the shutter while you do your kawaii pose!

If you are a guy, fear not, for you can trim the slice into bermuda shorts. It would be a perfect outfit for a day at the beach!

Other than fruits, it seems vegetables can play the role well too, like this brinjal.

The sky – no, your imagination – is the limit! What are you waiting for? Show the world your OOTD already! Don’t forget to #fruitdress or #フルーツドレス.
