Former Coronation Street star Lucy-Jo Hudson reflects on 'killer Katy' role

Former Coronation Street star Lucy-Jo Hudson has reflected on her role as "killer" Katy Harris as classic episodes of the soap air on ITVX and ITV3.

In a post on Instagram, the actress shared a series of stills from her time on the cobbles — which included a gravestone for her character — adding that she couldn't believe 22 years had passed since the episodes first aired.

"A little throwback," Hudson wrote. "I'm actually laughing at these pictures….. yes they're really me!

"I've had a few of you message saying that I'm back on 'Classic Corrie' on ITVX, and ITV3, I can’t quite believe they're still re-running these episodes... Holy crap, where did those years go?"

She continued: "I did love playing 'Killer Katy' it was a heavy emotional storyline but it pushed me out of my comfort zone and I learnt so much on this job."

Hudson joined the cobbles as Katy in 2002 as part of the Harris family, which included Kathryn Hunt as Angela, Thomas Craig as Tommy and Richard Fleeshman as Craig.

Her storylines included engaging in a relationship with Martin Platt (who was 20 years older than her) before undergoing an abortion, murdering her father and ultimately taking her own life in a 2005 storyline dubbed "Killer Katy".

Reflecting on her time in the role, Hudson thanked co-stars Hunt, Craig and Fleeshman for their support, writing: "I learnt so much from them all. They were incredible. This was my first ever TV job, and what a job it was!"
