Corrie star teases possible Waterloo Road returnITV

Coronation Street's Katie McGlynn may be best known for her portrayal of Sinead Tinker, especially for her hard-hitting and heart-breaking cancer storyline, but before she stepped onto the Cobbles she played Jodie Allen, aka Scout, in Waterloo Road.

The BBC school drama returned for a new series earlier this year, and has balanced out its cast of brand new characters with some returning favourites, some of whom were brief cameos, others are main characters, and one was brought back and then killed off *sob*.

Speaking to Inside Soap magazine, McGlynn said she'd like to make her own return. She stated: "I'd love to go back, it's been such a long time and that's where I started out.

"That's where I learned my whole craft because I went there instead of drama school. So I'd love to see how Scout is doing...

"I have spoken to the producer about going back. Nothing's set in stone as of yet. But you'll have to watch this space as you never know, do you know? But if not I still have a lot of love for that show — it's so iconic, and I'm super proud to have been a part of it."

McGlynn also stated that she has seen the new series and "thought it was brilliant".

The drama returned for a relatively short run of seven episodes at the start of this year, dropping all in one go on BBC iPlayer whilst airing weekly on BBC One.

More episodes are coming, although not for a while as filming didn't begin until recently, with the daughter of another Corrie favourite tipped to be joining the cast.

Waterloo Road is available to stream in full on BBC iPlayer.
