Four men taken to hospital after building site accident

Four men have been taken to hospital following an accident on a building site in Edinburgh.

Emergency services were called to the site on Rillbank Crescent, near the Meadows, shortly after 11:00 on Wednesday.

Four ambulances, two special operations vehicles and a critical care paramedic were sent to the scene, and police also attended.

The four men were taken to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) have also been informed.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said it was alerted at 11.30am to reports of people in difficulty within the building site.

Two vehicles with specialist rope rescue equipment and a height appliance were mobilised to the scene.

“Four casualties were rescued and handed into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service," the spokesperson added.

“Crews left after ensuring the area was made safe.”

An HSE spokesperson said: “We are aware of this incident and making inquiries.”
