Residents staying in Punggol, Choa Chu Kang and Queenstown will enjoy enhanced commutes with four new bus routes coming in the first quarter of 2015.

Specific details of the four new routes have yet to be worked out.

The four new bus routes will be introduced under the Bus Service Enhancement programme, which has rolled out 36 new or extended services since last year.

The programme aims to introduce 80 new bus routes by 2017.

Besides the four new bus routes, Singapore’s Land Transport Authority also announced that 550 new buses have been introduced since December last year.

Another 450 of these government-funded buses are expected to be put into service by 2017 – with a focus on improving the frequency of feeder bus services during peak hours.

These will be added to beef up eight out of 10 of all bus feeder routes to improve connectivity across the island.
