French director Yann Gozlan is set to reunite with Pierre Niney, the French star of his two most successful movies “Un homme idéal” and “Black Box,” for his next film, “Gourou.”
“Gourou” is being co-produced by Wassim Beji at WY Productions, the Paris-based company behind “Black Box and “Un Homme Ideal,” and Niney’s banner Ninety Films.

While the plot is currently under wraps, the project is being teased as a deep dive into the world of coaching and follows the rise of a personal development guru who turns out to be toxic. The script is by Jean-Baptiste Delafon, whose credits include “Of Money and Blood” which played at Venice, and Gozlan.
One of France’s most bankable and busiest French actors, Niney won a Cesar Award for his performance as French fashion legend Yves Saint Laurent in Jalil Lespert’s biopic in 2015, and went on to work with Anne Fontaine (“Frantz”) and Michel Gondry (“The Book of Solutions”), among others. He recently wrapped the shoot of “The Count of Monte Cristo,” the anticipated big-budget adaptation of Alexandre Dumas’ classic novel in which he stars as Edmond Dantes. Niney also stars opposite Vincent Cassel and Francois Civil in “Fiasco,” a comedy series which will premiere at Canneseries next month.
“Gourou” marks Gozlan’s follow up to “Visions,” a movie starring Diane Kruger and Mathieu Kassovitz. His 2021 thriller “Black Box” was a box office hit in France where it sold more than 1.2 million admissions and earned five Cesar nominations. Niney stars in the film as a black box analyst at the Bureau of Enquiry and Analysis for Civil Aviation Safety whose life unravels after he starts investigating on a mysterious plane crash. “Un homme ideal,” another thriller headlined by Niney, was also a B.O. hit in France and sold around the world.
WY Productions recently produced “Abbé Pierre: A Century of Devotion” which earned a Cesar nomination for Benjamin Lavernhe.
